Walker says CMU feels like home

Two-star running back Martez Walker, from Chicago Brother Rice HS added his name to the Central Michigan's Class of 2012 when he committed to the Chippewas in May. Walker stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs 190 pounds

To Walker, it was very important to commit to a school early in the process before his senior season.

"I wanted to commit somewhere before my senior year," said Walker. "I wanted to focus on playing football for my team and not having to worry about anything else."

The Chicago native's only other scholarship offer was from Ball State. There were several other schools interested in Walker, including Illinois, Iowa, Northern Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

Walker visited Mount Pleasant during the weekend of December 2-4. It went very smooth and he had a simple reaction, yet it explained why he chose CMU.

"It was great, I loved everything about it."

The Chippewas plan to use Walker as a running back. The coaching staff was excited to when they got the news that he was planning to commit to CMU.

"They were really excited and were very glad to hear that I decided to play football in Mount Pleasant."

According to Walker, Central Michigan is simply the best fit for him.

"The coaches are like fathers and the players were very nice. It's just like home to me."
