Eagles lead for in-state LB

Hunter Taute has been a bit overshadowed by his teammate, Maurice Hurst Jr., but he's on the minds of the coaches at Boston College.

The 6-foot-2, 235-pound inside linebacker also plays running back for Xaverian. Last fall he rushed for 480 yards and registered 86 tackles on defense. He projects as a linebacker in college and so far he's hearing from BC, UConn, UMass, several schools in the MAC and a couple of Ivy League programs.

As you might expect Taute is very close with Hurst.

"Me and him are best friends," Taute told EagleAction.com this weekend.

Both Taute and Hurst visited Boston College over the weekend. Taute has been to the school several times now for camps or visits. How did his Saturday trip go?

"It was good. I liked it. We got up there and went over admissions and academics and we took a tour of the facilities, which amazed me. We watched their first spring practice, which was good.

"Then we had a little time with the coaches after the scrimmage."

The coaches want Taute to return to Chestnut Hill for a camp over the summer so they can evaluate him more and decide whether they want to offer. Taute said he will definitely make it back to BC for that.

As for favorites one school is clearly sticking out.

"BC is definitely at the top," he concluded.
