Visits are coming for OG Garcia
Though offers haven't come in yet, visits are picking up for a 6-foot-4, 280-pounder in Virginia. Offensive guard Darius Garcia discussed the latest including his status with the Hokies.
"Not much has gone on, but during spring break I'm visiting Virginia for a practice and their spring game," he said. "Then, I'm planning to go to Virginia Tech's spring game on April 21st.
"I'm also setting up camps. I plan to go to Virginia Tech's camp in June and Maryland on June 16th."
Visits are coming up, but what does Garcia want to see on the trips?
"I want to see exactly what they do at the next level with the offensive line, how they run practice, they drills they do and how the games go," he said. "I want to see what the school has coming up and some intensity. I'm excited to go to the games."
Garcia is hearing relatively regularly from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland and NC State.
According to Garcia, two schools stand out.
"I like Virginia Tech and Virginia the most out of everybody," he said. "Right now I'm just looking for my first offer.
"I like Virginia Tech and Virginia cause they are close to home. I have family at both schools and that brings me ever closer to them. I like the atmosphere at Virginia Tech and how laid back they are. I like how hands on they are too and how the coaches get involved with their players."
As mentioned above, both Virginia Tech and Virginia want to see more of Garcia at camps this summer.
Meanwhile, Garcia posted first team all-district, region and second team all-metro honors as a junior.
"I think I played well," he said. "I know I played better in some games than I did in others. Overall I had a pretty good season, I want to top it this year."
