Notebook: Around the SEC
Missouri football has felt like a member of the Southeastern Conference for quite some time. The Tigers took another public step toward their July 1st inclusion in the league when Gary Pinkel joined 13 other league coaches on the SEC spring football teleconference.
Not knowing any of the personnel or the schemes that we're playing of any of our opponents, we're doing a lot of analysis and study," Pinkel said. "That's been going on since the end of February, will go on probably till the end of August."
Pinkel knows that his team will have plenty to prove and was even asked if the players were getting tired of hearing questions about the challenges of joining the new league.
"I think our players got pride in who they are and where they've been. I think that's natural," Pinkel said. "I also think too any time you're the new kid on the block, you have to earn respect. People are going to say, 'Oh, but. Oh, but can they do this? Oh, but can they do that? We know that's going to happen. It's real simple to me, you're going to have to go out and earn it. I have no problem doing that."
