Film Review: Gundy talks scrimmage

Oklahoma State held their first major scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday evening, and the overwhelming consensus was that the Wes Lunt-led Cowboy offense played very well. After reviewing tape of the approximately 115 plays, head coach Mike Gundy saw nothing to change that opinion and one surprising statistic that strongly supports the thought.

"Really, it was just what we saw - the offense was really effective," Gundy said. "What was as impressive as anything that nobody noticed until the next day was I believe we had 51 receptions and no drops. I don't know that I've ever been around that, so we're catching the ball effectively. Now in practice today, we had several drops which I wasn't happy with."

Of course, the ebb and flow of any fall camp is that a particularly successful day for one side of the ball means the other side wasn't up to par. That was the case on Saturday for the OSU defense.

"Defensively, we have to do an overall better job of defending the passing game, just the concepts of being in the right areas in zone," Gundy said. "They made some of those corrections in practice today."

The Cowboys have gone through just one two-a-day to date, but will get their fill with three this week. The first of those is this evening. All practices are closed to the public.
