Rush-ing for six: Senior has seen it all

Jonathan Rush is on the Oklahoma State roster for the sixth-straight year.

"I had to fight for this sixth year," he said. "I had to go talk to people and make my case."

To put that in perspective, Rush's freshman season at OSU saw the Cowboys go 6-6 in the 2007 regular season and cap it off with an Insight Bowl win.

That fight is something that he talked about last Thursday at the Cowboys' media luncheon, something that's driving him towards this season with more motivation than he said he's had in the past.

Motivation brought on by last season, when Oklahoma State won their first Big 12 Championship on the football field while Rush stood on the sidelines for the last nine games of the 2011 season.

He started every game in 2010, and three in 2011 before his injury, but that wasn't enough. He wanted one more season with the Cowboys, so he went and got it.

"I remember thinking as a freshman 'Gosh, I don't know if I want to say here for five years'," Rush said with a laugh. "Now they have me asking for a sixth year. What happened there?"
