Ground attack will be key for TU

As Tulsa is breaking in a new quarterback -- Nebraska transfer Cody Green -- the Golden Hurricane can rely on its ground game to help Green settle in and get things going early. TU returns 2,105 rushing yards from last season.

Ja'Terian Douglas rushed for a team-high 883 yards and four touchdowns as a sophomore last year, while Trey Watts gained 881 yards and three scores on the ground. Senior Alex Singleton, a short-yardage specialist, rushed for 279 yards and a team-high eight touchdowns, and senior H-back Willie Carter ran the ball 13 times for 62 yards and two TDs.

"I think we're in good shape at the running back position," said TU Head Coach Bill Blankenship. "The running back position has evolved like we thought it would. You have the known commodities in Trey and JT, and I think they have both improved their game from a year ago. They're more rounded players...
