South Carolina preview

Mississippi State was able to earn its first victory in nearly two months this past Saturday over Ole Miss.

Now the Bulldogs will try to follow up with another victory at South Carolina, a team they have already beaten earlier this season. Tipoff for tonight's game is set for 6 p.m. CT.

MSU has won seven straight over the Gamecocks including three straight at the Colonial Life Center. The Bulldogs lead the overall series 17-8 and are 7-4 in Columbia.

State claimed a 56-54 win over the Gamecocks on Jan. 9 in Starkville in the Southeastern Conference opener for both. The Bulldogs forced 24 turnovers in that meeting which led to 28 points in their favor. Freshman guard Craig Sword led Mississippi State with 18 points in that outing.

The Bulldogs (8-20, 3-13) avoided tying the school record for consecutive losses snapping a 13-game losing skid to Ole Miss on Saturday with a 73-67 victory. In the previous six games, MSU led for only 20 seconds but held the advantage for the final 22 minutes against the Rebels. Junior forward Colin Borchert scored a career-high 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting and added seven rebounds.
