Spartans hope to get over the hump after 7-6 season

In 2012 the Michigan State Spartans lost five games by 4 points or less to finish a disappointing 7-6. The Spartans easily could've won the Legends Division, but failed to close the deal in losses to Nebraska, Michigan, Ohio State, Northwestern and Iowa in games they very easily could've won.

As Michigan State looks ahead to 2013 the schedule is much more favorable for the Spartans. Gone are Ohio State and Wisconsin and they are replaced with Illinois and Purdue, while Indiana remains their crossover game.

Even with the loss of some key players from a year ago, the MSU defense is expected to be better. The major questions still surround the offense and the running game. Michigan State will come to Lincoln on Nov. 16. Paul Konyndyk of gave his thoughts and perspective on MSU as they come out of the spring.
