Budda Baker had been committed to Oregon for months. His recruitment appeared to be finished.

But then the four-star safety from Bellevue, Wash., had a change of heart and reconsidered things. That's when UCLA and Washington popped up as the two frontrunners and on the day before National Signing Day, Baker picked the Huskies.

This is a major pickup for new Washington coach Chris Petersen and his coaching staff. Baker is the No. 1 player in the Washington state rankings by Rivals.com and as the No. 10 safety in the class.

Baker had a strong showing at the U.S. Army All-America Bowl and moved to No. 61 overall. In the month before his decision, the Bellevue standout took trips to UCLA and Washington and USC had been considered as well.
