At one point it seemed that Hubbard was all set to go to Notre Dame but not to play football but rather lacrosse. But as time wore on more and more programs saw that he was a freakish athlete on the football field as well and Hubbard backed off of his pledge for lacrosse and opened it up for football before ultimately committing to Ohio State in April of 2013 over several major offers in the region and beyond. The commitment meant a lot as well with Ohio State's struggles through the years in Cincinnati.

Scouting Report: "Obviously he played out of position at safety. As a senior I went and saw him live and he's a big, athletic kid with good speed. How does he fit into the role that Ohio State is going to have him play is the question. Can he handle the point of attack? We just never really got to see him get a chance to do that and it's going to be a key question to answer to determine how high his ceiling is at the college level." - Midwest analyst Josh Helmholdt
