LeCounte looking at many teams

MORE 5-STAR CHALLENGE: Rosters - Scouting reports

BALTIMORE -- Already with 21 offers, 2017 safety Richard LeCounte out of Riceboro (Ga.) Liberty County is deep in the recruiting game. One school is mentioned the most with the defensive back, but he noted five other teams he's comfortable with so far.

"The team I'm mentioned with most is Ohio State," he said. "He (Raekwon McMillan) doesn't convince me to go there, but he tells me about the wonderful things that are there.

"I've visited three times and I love it every time I go there. I love the coaching staff, environment and the way everyone presents everything about it. It's really cool."

The rising sophomore claims a number of other teams intrigue him.

"I'm comfortable with Alabama, Georgia, UCLA, Florida State and Florida to name a few."

Georgia being in-state isn't pressure for LeCounte.

"I get it sometimes (pressure from people about Georgia)," he said. "It's not really pressure on me. I get hits from different people around the community, but I'm not worried, I'm just steady going."

Distance isn't a factor at all for LeCounte.

"My parents understand if it's a place for me to be and I like it, I should be able to go there. I have no problem being away from home."

One factor playing big into LeCounte early on is teams producing top corners.

"I have to say Florida State's stand out," he said. "I look at that. I look at LSU and the tradition they have. I see it and do my research on all of them."

Still, recruiting is taking a backseat for the 5-foot-10, 169-pounder.

"I'm mostly focused on my school work and being prepared. I don't put a lot of my mind on college things. I'm staying steady with my team," he said. "I'm doing summer workouts and I don't solely focus on colleges at this time especially with how much time I've got going through the process."

However, LeCounte plans to take more trips and is eyeing a few places.

"I want to go to Florida State, Miami, LSU, Ole Miss and Tennessee."
