Hawgs text Dial
There is a linebacker in Jenks, Okla., by the name of Tim Dial, and he could see his stock soar once summer camps and the season arrives.
One lucky Arkansas coach got a first hand look at Dial before a broken hand forced him to wear a cast from the third game until the last of his junior season. Springdale (Ark.), then coached by new Arkansas assistant Gus Malzahn, beat Jenks 44-0 early in the year on its way to a state title. Dial registered 11 tackles in the game from his free safety spot. Arkansas likes him at linebacker.
"I'd sent a video to them earlier in the year after their football season," Dial said. "And coach Malzahn was the coach at Springdale last year, and he played against us and he came to our Union game, and he told me that he was real impressed with my play then.
"He just kind of said that I played every play on defense and every play on special teams," he said. "They ended up beating us pretty good, but they're great players. I think it's great that they all went to Arkansas. It's kind of like a family atmosphere there with them all going together."
The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder received his first scholarship offer when Malzahn gave him the good news on Thursday.
