UCLA offers Louisiana duo

Since the seventh grade, West Monroe, La., defensive linemen Luther Davis and Will Blackwell have been teammates. Now, as rising prospects in the class of 2007, the 6-3, 254-pound Davis and the 6-4, 286-pound Blackwell have the opportunity to continue their careers together in college. Is that something the pair wants? Possibly so.

UCLA is making a bid to be that school. The Bruins offered the West Monroe teammates at the same time last week.

Miami (Fla.) and Alabama also recently offered Davis, but UCLA is a team he has been eyeing for some time. They are one of his planned destinations this summer for a camp and have already made an impression on the talented prospect.

Possessing 4.8 40-yard dash speed and squat max over 500 pounds, Davis could play either position along the defensive line. He lined up primarily at defensive end as a junior and tallied 88 tackles, eight sacks and broke up five passes from that spot. Where he plays in college is not a big factor for him.
