Stokes racking up offers
Memphis (Tenn.) University school linebacker/defensive end John Stokes has scholarship offers from a number of schools and is getting serious attention from plenty of others.
"I have scholarship offers from Memphis, Alabama, Vanderbilt and Stanford," Stokes said. "I am getting letters from Virginia and Ole Miss (in addition to the other two)."
Stokes has a top five of the Tide, Commodores, Cardinal, Cavaliers and Wake Forest.
The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder recently took an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa to check out the Crimson Tide.
"I was at the "A" game," Stokes said. "It was really impressive. There were a ton of people there and it was incredible. I like the tradition at Alabama."
In addition to the atmosphere, Stokes liked the facilities at Bama.
"The facilities are top-notch and are as good as anywhere."
Stokes added that Alabama is recruiting him as a linebacker, though he could also play defensive end.
Stokes added that he does not have a favorite at this time and that multiple factors will go in to his college choice.
"I think it will be a combination of all of the things where I choose to go coaching style, location, etc.," Stokes said.
There are some things he said needs to work on before attempting to play college football.
"I need to put some more weight on... strength and speed at the next level."
