Tucker impressed with Georgia Tech
Washington (D.C.) St. John's defensive end/linebacker Tony Tucker recently got a scholarship offer from Georgia Tech so he decided to take a closer look at the Yellow Jackets' program during his spring break last week. Tucker, who also has family in Georgia, said he really enjoyed his time in Atlanta seeing Tech and watching one of their spring practices.
"I just came from Georgia Tech," Tucker said. "I took a visit to Georgia Tech last Monday. It was my first time there. I have family down in Georgia so I snuck a little visit in to Georgia Tech to see waht they had to offer. I really liked their school. I like their academics. It looks like a good atmosphere and seems like a comfortable place. I could see myself being there for four years. It's a really good school."
Tucker said liked he everything he saw on campus.
"Coach (Geoff) Collins showed me around the place on a golf cart," Tucker said. "We saw everything, the facilities, dorms and all that stuff."
Tucker also enjoyed spending time with Tech's coaches. He spoke at-length with head coach Chan Gailey, as well as defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator Giff Smith.
"I got a chance to spend one-on-one time with Coach Gailey himself," Tucker said. "We were just talking about the football program and academics. He asked me about my family and that meant a lot."
