On record with A'asa

Michigan DT and future Utah Ute Neli A'asa hasn't slowed down yet and doesn't plan on hitting the brakes any time soon. In the offseason the big lineman throws the Shot Put and Discus, and recently was ranked number one in western Michigan. Once high school is over it's hello Salt Lake City as A'asa begins his college football career with the Utes. A'asa is eager to get things rollin' and intent on bringing his all to the game he loves.

Was there a moment when you knew Utah was the place for you?

It was actually when I came there for the All-Polynesian Camp that they had in Bountiful, Utah. I met with coach Kalani (Sitake), coach Andersen and coach Whitt and all of them were up forward and straight with me. It just had a different vibe over there, especially with all the Polynesian boys being over there - I was right back at home.

Where is home originally for you?


What particularly about Utah felt like home to you?

It had a laid back feeling to Salt Lake City, the guys are very laid back. At the same time their very serious and kind of strict on what they needed to get done. Coach Andersen is the same way, he's a very cool chilled out relaxed guy, but when it comes to work that's when you strap it on and get to work. Everything is a slower pace like back home.
