Crimson Tide lands Florida speedster

As reported by BamaOnLine last week, Bradenton, Fla., Academy wide receiver Jermaine McKenzie picked up a Tide scholarship offer less than two weeks ago and Alabama quickly became the team to beat.


On Wednesday, Alabama skipper Mike Shula visited his high school and the 6-foot-2, 170-pound speedster couldn't wait to commit to the Tide.


So, he didn't.


"I committed to Alabama today. I called Coach Shula after he left from his visit and told him I wanted to play for him. Alabama was the perfect place for me and I never really even thought about other schools," McKenzie told BamaOnLine.com Wednesday. "When Coach Shula and Coach (Dave) Ungerer came to the school today that really sealed the deal. They showed me that I was important to them and I wanted to show them how much I wanted to be a part of their program."
