Joiner Refuses to Lose

Killeen, Texas - Killeen (Texas) Shoemaker defensive end Brandon Joiner announced his presence on the recruiting scene in a big way taking MVP honors at the 2006 U.S. Army All-American Combine. However, long before that day came Shoemaker coaches knew they had a special talent on their hands.

"Freshman year I saw him, and I was licking my chops," Shoemaker defensive end coach Cliff Bluntson said. "Initially he was a tall and lanky kid, but that's kind of what we're looking for in the position down here."

Things have surely changed for Joiner since those days as a "tall and lanky kid." Now he's filled out tremendously and as head coach Ken Gray puts it "Physically he's I guess what they would call a 'Greek God'."

The 6-3, 220-pound prospect is already reporting offers from Baylor, Oklahoma State, and Houston, with Texas A&M, Florida, Florida State, Kansas State, and Miami showing significant interest.
