Chaney ready to run for Iowa

A year ago at this time, Iowa signee Paul Chaney was running track and thinking that might be his only ticket to a college scholarship. But, after a strong summer and an impressive senior season on the gridiron, Chaney was able to earn a football scholarship. Chaney talks about what the coaches have been telling him about next season, his enjoyment of returning kicks, and much more.

Q: You were in town for the final spring practice. What was that experience like for you?

CHANEY: It was a really good experience to see the guys play and practice in person again.

Q: Did you sit down with the coaches at any point and talk about your future?

CHANEY: Before practice started, I talked to both Coach Johnson and Coach Erb. Anthony Bowman was standing there with me and they said it was looking good for us coming in and we just have to work hard to get on the field.

Q: Did they kind of hint that it might be possible for you to play as a true freshman?

CHANEY: I want to say yes. They said that I need to come in there and work hard to learn the system.
