Linebacker heads into summer with plenty of depth

HuskersIllustrated.com will close out our spring football coverage with a two-week position grade out that breaks down where Nebraska stands heading into summer conditioning and fall camp.

Linebacker is a position that no doubt has the most depth on the Nebraska football team heading into the off-season. Here is a complete spring grade out of NU's deep and talented linebacker core.

Overall Grade: A-

The only thing holding the linebacker grade from an A this spring is the fact that junior Bo Ruud and senior Stewart Bradley were limited in contact because of injury.

If Ruud and Bradley would've been at full strength this spring, the talent at linebacker really could've stolen the show. However, with that said, junior Steve Octavien did steal the show with play for most of spring football.

Octavien was simply outstanding this spring and he has all the makings of an All-Big 12 type linebacker.

You also have to like the depth NU has at MIKE with junior Corey McKeon and sophomore Phillip Dillard.
