Wade focused on off-season gains
For Kallen Wade, the battle of the bulge is more like a knockdown, drag-out fight.
At a wiry 220 pounds, the 6-foot-5 defensive end from Cincinnati, Ohio is barely a month away from enrolling at Notre Dame with big plans to impact the Irish defense from Day One. But unless Wade can make rapid jumps in the weight room in the coming weeks, working his way onto the field this fall could be a difficult proposition.
"My goal is to put on another 10 pounds before I leave for the Big 33 game," Wade said. "Notre Dame didn't give me any kind of bench marks to hit with lifting or speed, it's more just seeing how much weight I can put on before getting to campus."
