New Jersey Class of 2007: Defensive Backs
NJVarsity.com continues its analysis of the Class of 2007 tonight with a look at the top defensive backs in New Jersey. There are both impressive cornerbacks and safeties in this year's class, but the most heralded player at this position comes from Hudson County. So find out who this is and who you should be keep an eye on in the coming months!
Even though his recruitment started off a little slower than people expected, things are definitely beginning to pick up for Evan Rodriguez of North Bergen, who at 6-foot-2 and 211-pounds, has all the tools needed to be a quality D1 safety. Rodriguez currently holds offers from both Rutgers and UConn, but after a solid performance at the recent Elite College Combine, things are sure to pick up for him soon. After Rodriguez, the next top safety is Dominique Herald of Pennington Prep, who even though is smaller, 5-foot-10 and 180-pounds, is a hard hitter and gets to the ball fast. Herald already has an offer from Maryland, and even though he isn't a household name at this point, interest will increase as his highlight tape makes the rounds.
