Hunter ready to make an impact

As the top ranked prospect in Iowa's 2006 recruiting class, there are a number of expectations on incoming freshman Jeremiha Hunter. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker from Pennsylvania seems to welcome those expectations, however, as he expects a lot from himself, even in his first year of college. With August camp less than three months away, Hunter talks about trying to make an impact early in his career at Iowa and much more.

Q: When are you heading to Iowa City?

HUNTER: I'll be out there on June 18. I'll stay until July, come home for a little bit, and then go back in August for camp.

Q: What have you been up to since we last talked around signing day?

HUNTER: I've been working out and keeping up with my grades. That's about it really.

Q: What have you thought of the Iowa workout program they sent you?

HUNTER: I like it. I've done stuff similar to it at my old school because they have a college strength and conditioning program, so a lot of it isn't new to me.

Q: What kind of impact are you hoping to have your freshman year?

HUNTER: I'm trying to come in there and take somebody's spot. I want to learn as much as I can from the upperclassmen, but I'm trying to come in and play early. But, if it doesn't work out like that, I have no problem redshirting.

Q: Do you think you have to have that kind of attitude coming in if you're going to play early?

HUNTER: Yeah, I think you've got to have confidence in everything that you do.
