OT Alvarez among nationís best

Over the past year, the stock of William Alvarez, a 6-5, 305-pound offensive tackle from Woodbridge, Va., C.D. Hylton, has shot through the stratosphere.


In his first season as a starter on the Hylton offensive line in 2005, Alvarez was dominant, helping his team average 37 points a game and finish the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record.


The Bulldogs ultimately advanced to the third round of the Virginia state playoffs, finishing with an overall record of 12-1.


"William has got a little bit of a nasty streak," said Alvarez's coach, Lou Sorrentino. "He also has a lot of upside; he's only played football a couple of years. He has a lot of growth as a player; he's just tipping the iceberg right now."
