Matha shows his stuff

The road to recovery has been a long one for Erie (Pa.) McDowell lineman Dan Matha, who sustained an injury to his leg that broke his fibula, dislocated his ankle and tore both ligaments that hold the fibula together in his sophomore season.

Questions were raised whether Matha could ever return to pre-injury form, when the 6-foot-7, 310-pound prospect dominated on the line and was being looked at by some of the top programs in the country.

UConn, Maryland, Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Temple have offered Matha, who is also receiving interest from Michigan, Penn State, Virginia, Notre Dame and others.
