Whitney does it all

Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph's Prep quarterback/safety Chris Whitney has impressive numbers on the field and he also has them in the classroom.

Whitney, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound prospect, threw for 1,430 yards, 16 touchdowns and only four interceptions last season. He also rushed for 554 yards and nine TDs.

On the academic side, the St. Joseph's Prep standout boasts a 3.98 grade-point average and he scored a 1360 on the 1600-scale SAT. Grades won't be a problem when colleges consider offering Whitney, who was named the MVP of the Catholic League after last season.

UConn, Stanford, Pittsburgh, Iowa, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Penn State, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and Virginia are all showing interest.
