Tray Allen is still a hot prospect

When South Grand Prairie offensive lineman Tray Allen committed to Texas in mid-April, it was a bitter pill to swallow for several programs in the Big 12.

Not only is Allen considered to be one of the top few offensive line prospects in the entire nation, but schools like Oklahoma and Texas A&M thought they had the inside track due in large part to Texas already having five commitments.

Throw in some top out-of-state powers like USC, Notre Dame and LSU that were also hoping to make a run at the future five-star prospect, and it Allen's commitment had jaws dropping across the country.

Roughly six weeks later, some schools have backed off in their pursuit after the blue-chip lineman made his intentions of playing in Austin clear, while a couple of others are still giving it a go.

Allen said this week that both OU and USC have continued to recruit him, while most other schools have cut down on their contact.
