Huskies land huge pledge

One of best gages that the Washington Huskies are on their way back is when they dominate in-state recruiting. The Huskies landed who many think is the Evergreen State's best prospect for the class of 2007.

That player is tight end/linebacker Chris Izbicki (6-3, 245, 4.8) from Kirkland (Wash.) Lake Washington.

Izbicki chose the Huskies over other offers from Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford and Arizona State.

The word was Cal was on the verge of offering and they were on the Lake Washington campus today. USC is another big time program showing Izbicki some recruiting attention.

Over the past few years this is the kind of player who may have opted to play somewhere else. This gives you an indicator how well Willingham regime is progressing.

Izbicki was an all-state selection as a tight end while earning all-league honors on both sides of the ball as a junior.
