The Bay Area's big show

After losing three starting offensive linemen to the NFL this year, and possibly two more next year, the Trojans have hit the recruiting trail, searching every trench along the way.


To the north, San Francisco Saint Ignatius offensive lineman Matt Summers-Gavin has become entrenched as one of the region's most coveted prospects.


With scholarship offers from Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Georgia, Nebraska, Oregon, Northwestern and Washington, Summers-Gavin is on the verge of becoming a national recruit.


In addition to the schools listed above, Notre Dame, USC and Miami share increasing interest in the 6-foot-5, 275-pound lineman. Irish special teams coach, Brian Polian, recently made the trip west to see the first-team All-West Catholic League star up close.
