Hickson Not Rushing Into Recruiting
In the not so distant past, a player like Georgia prospect J.J. Hickson would likely have meant little to Tennessee basketball fans other than as a potential future opponent.
That may still be the case when it's all said and done, but in the meantime, look for Bruce Pearl and his staff to take a serious run at a prospect who is on a very short list as one of the top 'bigs' in the nation.
Hickson (6-foot-8, 230 pounds), from Marietta, is the kind of prospect who will find himself as the No. 1 priority for any number of programs, and he's starting to see exactly what that type of status can mean in terms of recruiting pressure. Even with phone calls and contact restricted right now, it's still a little on the hectic side.
"I'm hearing from everyone in the SEC, Big East, ACC and Big 12 it seems like right now," Hickson said of recent recruiting activity. "I still haven't got it down to a top five or six yet but I'm going to be doing that in the coming weeks."
