Safety Peake high on WVU board

For the second straight year, West Virginia has gone into the vestiges of Trotwood (Ohio) Trotwood-Madison High School and offered a defensive slugger; however, it may be a while before the Mountaineers can get stellar safety Carlton Peake on their campus.

Peake, who packs a wallop with a 6-foot-2, 216-pound frame and 4.46 40-yard-dash speed, was coming into the Trotwood program about the time that defensive back Jovani Chappel was heading out last January.

According to Trotwood coach Maurice Douglass, the Mountaineers were unable to find an opening on their spring roster for Chappel about the time Chappel decided to go to Pitt, where he recently completed spring football for the Panthers.
