Four-star standout chooses Iowa State

Iowa State is on the board with its first verbal commitment for the basketball recruiting class of 2007 and it's an early indicator that, yes, Greg McDermott can recruit on an elite national level. Craig Brackins is a 6-foot-9, 215-pound power forward who happens to be the No. 37 prospect in the entire nation, according to Rivals.com.

Brackins called ISU assistant coach T.J. Otzelberger with his decision on Wednesday.

Other schools that had offered scholarships to Brackins included Indiana, Pittsburgh and Washington and he said schools such as Illinois, Clemson and Oklahoma State were showing strong interest. He plans to sign with ISU in November.
