Terry Smith talks about Ditto's commitment

Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway's Jon Ditto (WR/TE) became Penn State's fourth verbal commitment when he selected the Nittany Lions today.

Ditto and his family made the trip to State College Thursday to confirm his intentions to the Penn State coaching staff.

Gateway head coach Terry Smith believes the decision will help Ditto concentrate on his upcoming senior year. Smith also talked about why Ditto chose the Lions.

"I would say one is academics first and foremost, then the campus atmosphere. Jon does have a sister at Penn State as well right now. But he's so completely comfortable with Penn State and their staff," Smith said.

As for Ditto's possible future role in the Penn State offense, Smith believes that has yet to be determined.

"They're recruiting him more as an inside receiver/H-Back position, where he's that tweener. He can line up in the slot and motion down, and he can be like an additional blocker coming out of the backfield," Smith said.
