Braswell is versatile and maturing (Part 2)
In the first installment, HoyaReport.com reviewed 6-foot-8, 230-pound, 2008 forward Chris Braswell's DeMatha Catholic High School matriculation, noting his progress on and off the court. This time around, his play during two recent AAU tournaments is documented, in addition to his college choices and skill development plan.
June 9, 2006 - During the Charlie Weber Easter Hoop Fest, Braswell anchored Triple Threat AAU's interior attack, displaying those skills recently honed at DeMatha, in a much anticipated match up with the Baltimore Stars AAU team. The Stars boast a pair of frontcourt Baltimore standouts in 6-8, 260-pound junior (and University of Maryland committed) Braxton Dupree, as well as 6-foot-9 sophomore Henry Simms. The duo formed a formidable interior challenge for Braswell. In addition to scoring seven points, which included a nice dunk late in the contest, Chris corralled a number of rebounds, and notched several blocked shots. His contribution was key to Triple Threat's 43-38 win.
In May, Braswell was able to display more of his small forward ability in the Triple Threat Shootout. Against a very talented Team Melo squad featuring current Hoya point of interest, sophomore guard Sean Mosley, as well as past G'Town target and current Syracuse committed forward Donte Green, Braswell dropped 12 points while also manning the boards.
Given the young man's demonstrated skill level and propensity for future versatility, it is natural that colleges are starting to drool at the prospect of landing Braswell, and his current list reflects that.
"Villanova, Georgetown, Maryland, Charlotte, Virginia Tech, and North Carolina" are of current interest, noted Chris during The Shootout.
