Rivals100 Brown favors five

When Rivals.com released its five-star rankings a couple of weeks ago many predicted that Lakeland, Fla., defensive tackle John Brown would definitely be included on the list, some went as far as touting him as the top overall player at his position.

However, in the end, he found himself on the outside looking in. Not because of his ability on the field, but rather because of academic shortcomings off it.

That is a problem he is well aware of and working toward resolving.

"I'm about to start taking some Internet classes," said Brown. "I'll say I'm going to be close. I have to take a couple of classes, pass the SAT or the ACT and pass a part of the FCAT. I know what I have to do to be good. I have to buckle down and work hard at this."
