Russian commits to LSU

Round Rock, Texas, tight end and long-snapper Alex Russian visited a handful of schools for unofficial visits last week which culminated in Baton Rouge and a visit to LSU. That visit with the Tiger coaches convinced Russian that LSU was for him.

"I pulled the trigger on June 15 after my dad and I went on a long road trip," Russian said. "We went to six different colleges, all of them offered and it was a good time to look around and see things and see if I could make an early commitment which is what I just did."

Russian stands at 6-foot-4, 225-pounds and he runs a 4.6 in the 40-yard dash. In a primarily run oriented offense, Russian finished his junior season with 7 receptions for 110-yards and 3 touchdowns.

"LSU was just a really great place for me because the coaching staff was amazing, really nice and a great bunch of guys," Russian said. "My recruiting coach (Larry) Porter was awesome and the tight end coach (Josh) Henson, I am really glad to get to work with him."
