One team to the top
As of early June, Naples (Fla.) Barron Collier wide receiver Matt Clements had the Auburn Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks tied at the top of his list, but things have now changed.
"South Carolina is my No. 1 school now," the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Clements said. "They have just done the best job of showing me how much they want me to be a part of their program. They run a big-time offense, and it seems like I could really make an impact there if I went there."
One big reason the Gamecocks have ascended to the top of Clements' list is his contact with the Gamecock assistant coaches Robert Gillespie and Steve Spurrier Jr..
"Coach Gillespie sends me text messages all the time, and we've talked on the phone. He also has talked to my parents a couple of times. I've also talked to Coach Spurrier Jr. quite a bit. We text message back and forth, and we've talked on the phone a few times. He's a cool guy and a winner, and he thinks he can utilize my talent."
