Dean headed off to Westwood

The time has come and a majority of the UCLA signing class of 2006 will be moving to their new homes on campus this weekend. For offensive center Jake Dean, formerly of Lancaster, Calif., Paraclete High School, the upcoming move is an exciting one. He also has high goals for his freshman season as a Bruin and has worked out in the off-season to meet those goals.

"I'm moving in Sunday," Dean said. "I'm rooming with Darius Savage, Jerzy Siewierski and Jeff Miller. Were staying in one of the suites in Saxon. I'm just excited now that it's all happening."

Now standing 6-4 and weighing in at 285 pounds, Dean has spent a good deal of time in the weight room this off-season. He now reports a max bench press of 365 pounds, max clean of 295 pounds and max squat of 485 pounds. When camp opens in a little over a month, Dean will be lining up at the center position.
