T.J. Simpson: Behind the decision

Less than a month ago, Peoria High wide receiver T.J. Simpson told ASUDevils.com that the Sun Devils were in his top four along with Oregon, Oregon State and UTEP, with offers on the table from each. What led him to feel as though ASU had pulled away from that group and done enough to secure his commitment?

"I had to sit down and write down the pros and cons of each program and ASU had more pros than cons and plus, it was close to home so I'll be playing in front of my family and friends. So that was a big plus," Simpson said.

"After that, I just sat down with my parents and I told them that I was ready to make this commitment to ASU and they said 'alright then', and so I just called coach Koetter and told him I was ready to come to ASU."

Simpson, 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, said that his comfort level with the Sun Devil coaching staff was at an all-time high, and that helped him feel comfortable enough to make this decision without feeling the need to make official visits in the fall. His relationship with defensive line coach Grady Stretz, responsible for his recruitment, made a particular impression.
