Taliaferro, Detrick share a desire to be dominant

Recruiting the Peninsula District successfully has been a goal for the Virignia staff since Al Groh arrived as head coach. Linebacker is a focus of the 2007 class for the Cavaliers and the commitments of Woodside inside linebacker Jared Detrick and Gloucester outside linebacker Aaron Taliaferro give the Cavaliers a dynamic duo that shares a tight bond and a desire to bring a dominant defense to Charlottesville.

"We stay in contact. Whether it is on the phone, via e-mail, or instant messenger," said Detrick of his relationship with Taliaferro.

The two play for opposing schools in the same district, one many feel is among the top districts in the country.

"We battle on the field but when the whistle blows it is back to talking. There is something bigger here, Taliaferro said. "We are going to be playing for UVa on the defense, side by side, and we intend on making an impact."

Detrick and Taliaferro share more in common than the Peninsula District. They were both recruited to Virginia by defensive coordinator Mike London.
