Vols add No. 9
Tennessee's summer recruiting push continues to roll along as the Vols have picked up their ninth commitment for the class of 2007. The latest to decide to be a Vol is cornerback/athlete Art Evans from Lakeland, Florida. The 6-foot-1, 180 pound Evans is a two way standout for Victory Christian Academy (formally Evangel Christian School) in Lakeland, Florida.
"He committed to the Tennessee coaches today," Victory Christian head coach Dedrick Dodge said. "He just felt comfortable with the situation at Tennessee and with what the coaches were talking about. Tennessee needs corners and he is born to be a corner."
Dodge, who is a former Florida State Seminole and seven year veteran of the NFL, knows a little about secondary play.
"I played under coach Andrews at Florida State," Dodge said. "I played with Deion Sanders and Terrell Buckley and those guys. And Art is a natural corner. He can cover whether it is in press man to man or playing off the ball. He is just a great athlete."
Evans has offers from Ohio State, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Wake Forest, and Duke and Dodge said that Evans had been hearing a lot from Florida and Alabama.
