Kiilsgaard narrows list to five Pac-10 programs
Auburn High quarterback Kellen Kiilsgaard is one of the top athletes in the state of Washington. In a run oriented offense he carried the ball for 837 yards and 14 touchdowns and he threw for 650 yards and three additional scores on just 78 pass attempts. In a rare feat for a quarterback, he also was a team leader on defense, racking up 60 tackles and four interceptions from his safety position, where he earned all-league honors.
"We're looking good right now, just working hard and doing well in the passing leagues and just going 7-on-7," the 6-foot-3, 210 pound Kiilsgaard said. "Our goal is to try to get further in the playoffs this season than any team in Auburn High history, which is the semi-finals and I think we're going to have a good chance at it. The only position on our team that was inexperienced is the line but they've really done a good job of stepping up."
As such an integral part of his team's success, Kiilsgaard has had ample opportunity to shine on both sides of the ball, and he's such a tremendous athlete that colleges are looking at him at a variety of positions, including quarterback, safety and wide receiver. Kiilsgaard said he is willing to consider playing any position that puts him in the position to be successful.
