2006 Look Ahead: Baylor Bears
OPPONENT 5: BAYLOR BEARS
Sept. 30 @Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco, Texas
Returning Starters: 13 (7 offense, 4 defense, kicker, punter)
2005 Record: 5-6
Coach: Guy Morriss
Marshall player to Watch: Quarterback Shawn Bell (6-1, 219 Sr.)
Baylor is going to go to a spread offense similar to what's been so successful at Texas Tech, and Bell is a talented enough quarterback to do his part in the change that's taking place in Waco. Bell threw for 1,964 yards while completing 59.4 percent of his throws last year, leading the Bears to a 5-4 record in games he started. Bell threw 12 touchdowns against just six interceptions.
Wildcat to Watch: Cornerback Justin McKinney
K-State's defensive backfield is going to be tested by Bell and his receivers, meaning the play of McKinney will be key. McKinney hopes to establish himself as one of the Big 12 Conference's best cornerbacks as a junior, and the league opener against the Bears will present a real opportunity to prove his worth to those watching around the conference.
Instant Analysis: Baylor couldn't have been any closer to earning its first bowl appearance in more than a decade last season...
