Five-star DT to narrow list

Former Ohio State coach Woody Hayes liked to speak of "Paying it forward," of putting in ones dues early to reap rewards later. The saying would be an apt one for Detroit's Joseph Barksdale, who is enduring summer classes in an effort to graduate early from high school.

Barksdale is taking a second-semester senior English course that will help him enroll for college during winter quarter of 2007. The course lasts until the end of July.

Listed by Rivals.com as a five-star defensive tackle prospect from Detroit's Cass Tech High School, Barksdale has received offers from plenty of schools across the country. The broad range of interested colleges has made him unable to narrow down any sort of list of favorites, but that could be about to change.

Barksdale said he plans to have a list of his top five schools by the end of the summer and listed several schools that have a chance to make that list.
