Florida DT keeps Irish on list

Donte'e Nicholls would rather focus on high school football.


His Ely team finished 9-3 last season, including a 21-19 loss in the second round of the Florida playoffs to St. Thomas Aquinas, which featured incoming Notre Dame freshmen Sam Young and Dan Wenger on the offensive line. Nicholls played a key role on the squad, working at defensive end and defensive tackle for an Ely team that dropped its first two games then put together a nine-game winning streak.


This year Nicholls wants to do much more than anchor the squad's defensive front. He plans to lead the team deeper into the playoffs, and that starts with a better off-season workout program, something Nicholls is trying to instill in his Ely teammates.
