Smith narrows list

Virginia Beach, Va., Kempsville wide receiver Jay Smith (6-foot-2, 197 pounds, 4.47 seconds) is one of the top players in the nation for 2007. Smith, who has racked up more than 40 scholarship offers, is starting to think about visits. The Kempsville standout has also narrowed his list of favorites to seven. Virginia, led by assistant Bob Price, has made it clear that Smith is a priority. Did the Cavaliers make the cut?

"I have narrowed my list to seven schools. Clemson, Virginia, Virginia Tech, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Miami are my top seven," said Smith.

Do any of Smith's final seven stand out more to him?

"No sir, they are all even at this point. I hope to take some visits to figure out which school fits me the best."

Virginia has continued to recruit Smith as a top priority.
