4-star DT has UA at top

One of the nation's most sought after defensive linemen, John Brown from Lakeland, Fla., High School, was in Tuscaloosa this weekend for an unofficial visit with the Tide staff. Brown, 6-foot-2, 285-pounds, has offers from most of the country and after his visit to the Capstone Alabama is in the thick of things for his signature.

"My visit was great. I had a good time with everything. It was my first time to Alabama and the visit helped them a lot because now I know it's a great school with great people. I learned a lot about the campus, football players and pretty much everything. I already liked Alabama and this moved them up higher. Alabama and FSU are my overall favorites now," Brown said. "All of the coaches were great with me and made me feel at home. They answered all my questions and explained to me how I would fit in if I chose Alabama. I liked talking with Coach (Joe) Kines because he broke everything down for me and told me his system and how it would work with me in it. I was impressed because all of the coaches were so friendly and honest. I feel very comfortable with them.

"The campus was nice and I was very impressed with everything they are building. The new dorms are going to be nice and they are close to the academic center and everything else. It was pretty and easy to get around. I enjoyed meeting the other people there and it didn't take long to realize that the whole campus is about Alabama football. Everyone knows who the football players are and they treat them special.

"I was very impressed with the football facilities especially the stadium. They are adding a lot of seats in one of the end zones and it's going to be very loud this year. I walked through the tunnel and I like that they have it set up so that when you are getting ready to run on the field before a game you can see all the fans already out there."
