Chavis breaks down his commitment
Miguel Chavis, a 6-5, 258-pound defensive end from Fayetteville, N.C., Terry Sanford, knew where he belonged in his heart. He camped at UNC this past weekend and it only confirmed what he originally knew - he wants play for the Tar Heels. Chavis made that dream possible today giving his verbal commitment to the North Carolina program. Check out Carolina Blue's exclusive interview with the standout defensive lineman.
Q: Why did you feel it was the right time now to commit to North Carolina?
Chavis: It's a long time in the coming. I sat down with my family and my older brother, Aaron, who is my mentor and we talked about it. I got a seed in my head and knew it was the place for me. Coach Weber, coach Pearman, Coach Bunting, coach Browning - all of them - I know Carolina is the place for me. I like the business school there. It's a place I can learn. And we are going to win some games. Nobody wants to play for the losing team and we will win some games at Carolina. I know that much.
Q: Why UNC?
Chavis: I love the coaches there. The campus is second to none. And the networking and connections are awesome. Coach Bunting is a real guy, I can relate to him. The recruiting class UNC is bringing in is so good. We are going to win some games. The environment is a family. It's very close. Carolina Blue baby - it's where I'm supposed to play ball at.
