Speedy linebacker is 11th Auburn commitment

Auburn continued its flurry of big early commitments Wednesday with a verbal pledge from Decatur, Ga., Southwest Dekalb outside linebacker Marshall Williams.

"I decided that Auburn was the perfect place for me," said Williams. "They made me feel real comfortable about the decision I was making. I got to come down to camp and just loved the atmosphere and the academic part. They really stress academics to their football players and I felt like Auburn was the place I wanted to play football and get my degree."

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Williams, who has been a standout at two Auburn camps this summer, picked the Tigers over offers from North Carolina, Vanderbilt and Memphis. He also had heavy interest from Georgia, Alabama, N.C. State, Tennessee, Florida, Miami, Notre Dame and Duke.

"My dad and the rest of my family are really excited about Auburn," said Williams. "This is a real big moment for me. With everything out of the way, now I can just focus on playing football and school."
